It pours a deep, ruby brown. Like thicker Guinness. Smell is pure bourbon. The base beer is sort of lost at first, but you can pick up the caramel and toffee barleywine notes as it warms up. Barrel seems like it may have had a bit of bourbon left in it.. taste is similar, with a bourbon burn at the front, but finishes with pleasant coconut, leather, smoky cigar and like.. mint? A bit thin on the palate, but overall, solid beer.
