Tallboy from the LCBO; coded Apr 17 2020 and served slightly chilled.
Pours clear golden-blonde, generating more than two fingers of lumpy, soapy white head that withers within five minutes or so. Several rings of lacing are deposited on its way down, with a quarter-inch cap and collar of creamy foam remaining in place afterwards. Looks fantastic, but the nose is another story - gritty, grainy pale malt and berry-scented lip balm are what I'm getting.
It tastes a little bit better than it smells IMO, but I'm still not real big on this one. Grainy pale malts and bready sweetness at first, with the huckleberry flavour - which tastes kind of like a blueberry, crossed with something like a blackberry - coming through by mid-sip and lasting into the finish, which also introduces a touch of herbal, earthy bitterness. The aftertaste is persistent and my least favourite part of the profile - a little bitter, but also astringent, with some metallicity - but the berry flavouring lingers longest of all. Light in body, with very aggressive carbonation at first - I'd almost call it overcarbonated, but it does exhaust itself soon enough, resulting in a crisp, relatively refreshing texture. I finished this can without a fuss, but I wouldn't call this particularly drinkable - though I suppose I did start drinking it faster just so I could move on to something else.
Final Grade: 3.19, a mediocre C+. Hucklejack is a berry flavoured novelty lager, and a thoroughly average one at that - at the end of the day, I don't think the berry flavour helps this beer that much, as I'd much rather be drinking an unflavoured pale lager. That being said, if a berry lager sounds interesting then by all means do try it - I'm not in the business of discouraging BAs from ticking new beers, even the ones that I most likely will not be returning to.

Pours nice golden colour and leaves lots of lacing on my glass. The smell is somewhat fruity, probably huckleberry, but since I’ve never tasted a huckleberry, I’m just guessing. Taste is again with the fruit overtop of a nice crisp lager. Just subtle hints of the fruit flavour. Mouthfeel is smooth and mid-to-full bodied. Nice beer

This is a fully gristed malt Canadian craft lager with Huckleberry essence...Can : Pours a pale straw color with 2 finger rocky white cap that lasts....aromas of bready malts and berries...flavor has light maltiness in front, then berry tones kick in...goes to a clean crisp finish dominated with a sour bittering...decent enough patio fare for summer sipping
