473 mL can from the LCBO, one of three new beers in Waterloo's Signature Series mixed pack. Coded Aug 24 2022 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a deep, clear copper-brown colour, generating one finger of frothy, foamy, light tan-coloured head that melts away within two minutes or so. A thin collar and some filmy wisps are all that remain afterwards, with patchy lace deposition as the level drops - looks ok, but the nose immediately reminds me of an apple cinnamon scented candle. Brown sugar, apple pie, baked apples and cocoa; it resembles what it's supposed to, but doesn't quite get there, placing it in uncanny valley territory.
The same can be said of the flavour profile - I'm getting brown sugar, apple pie topping and baked apples, with cinnamon, roasted malts, milk chocolate and cocoa powder bringing up the rear. Frosted cinnamon bun and apple pie carry on into the aftertaste, which is cloyingly sweet. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation that adds a crisp bite to this porter's smooth mouthfeel; gives you the sticky lips, too. Polishing off even this single can is kind of a chore.
Final Grade: 2.96, a dismal C grade. Waterloo's Apple Crumble Porter is an oversweetened, artificial mess of a beer. This brewery used to put some effort into their seasonals... whether they were actually successful or not is another matter entirely, but at least it seemed as if they were trying new things. Nowadays, it seems Waterloo is content to squirt some flavouring syrup into a base porter/stout and ship it out to the masses. Who knows: maybe this junk actually sells better, in which case I suppose the joke is on all of us beer geeks.

473 ml can from the seasonal Waterloo stout pack. Served cold into a pint glass. Review from notes
Appearance - Dark brown nearly black with a finger and a bit of light tan head. Decent staying power, but does fizzle out quicker than expected.
Smell - There's some general roastiness and then an artificial syrupy fruity aroma with some baked sugary notes. Overall, it comes out more cherry than apple to me, and it's sweet and not unpleasant, but the aroma seems like something that came from some sort of syrup. Must be the "natural flavors".
Taste - Again, a decent base porter with some slight coffee and chocolate elements in the background and this sweet and semi-syrupy, apple crumble flavor comes in. It's sweet and tasty, but again seems like an additive to the beer overtop of a base porter. Super sweet.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, lighter than average carbonatiuon, easy enough to drink.
Overall - Not to disparage this brew (and others in the seasonal pack), but it seems artificial with syrups and adjuncts being added. Now the quality of said syrups makes for a sweet and tasty enough beer that does mimic the advertised flavor, however that seamless transition with other brews that makes you wonder how they did it - well it;s not here with this one.

Dark brown in appearance, thick creamy head. 100% apple pie in the nose. The taste is FAR too sweet. Definite apple crumble flavouring but over the top sweetness. Not for me
