i was impressed to see a number of lagers on their menu in this awesome little spot. the bartender directed me to this one, and i was quite pleased with it. short of fully crisp, not without the european character of a pilsener, but flavorful and clean nevertheless, and a somewhat nuanced glass of yellow beer as they go, these guys are way ahead of the curve! clear and bubbly, an inch of white foam rests on top, very active from the tap, shiny, and delicate looking. aroma a touch of baked sweetness, even corn or a cream ale element, but dry to taste, with the lager yeast not totally irrelevant even though the fermentation is very clean. subtle earthy hops giving this some balance, but very little bitterness really, quite a mellow recipe where the grain and the yeast are allowed to really define it. i love the rushing carbonation and the refreshment value, and that its so drinkable without being watery, thin, dumbed down, or bland. thats hard to do in a basic lager like this, so job well done!
