i really liked this milk stout with coconut, areas of it are amazing, other areas could be refined a little bit, but its a great flavored stout, and it was a fun one to sip on in here. served in a globe its shiny very dark brown with nearly a full inch of very creamy and lasting tan head. slick looking, tidy. lots of coconut in the nose, not too much, not sunscreeny, but not purely authentic either, or else they used a ton of it and there is some interaction with the milk sugar, because it smells desserty and very sweet. chocolate notes are there, not quite the deep bitter unmalted roasted barley intense low end, but instead a more moderate dark chocolate profile and a little coffee hint. the flavor is just like the nose, really coconut forward all the way though, and lots of sugar. its a little more sweetness than i like in a beer, but i appreciate the creaminess and accenting of the coconut that the lactose adds here, it would be not as good without it, but it limits drinkability. i like all the body in it, and i like the long rich finish. most in our group agreed it was a one and done sort of brew, but a really tasty one. all of the beer here was pretty darn good, and i hope to be back again sometime before too long!
