750 mL bottle. Pours a very deep red and looks like a deep purple in the glass. No real head. Smells of blackberry with all of the accompanying blackberry funkiness. A little bit of wheat, but it's mostly blackberry. Tastes of wheat, grain, and a little blackberry tartness. The blackberry isn't as dominant as I thought it might be. I mean, it's still a blackberry-forward beer, but I still get some Berliner behind it. Just a hint of blackberry juice sweetness. A spike in acidity and wheat in the very end. Medium light. All blackberry, but it does make for a very tasty beverage.

Hang tag notes:
" Twenty-eight months in the making, the brewing of Tidal Disruption has been an exercise in patience. It began by aging the base beer for nearly two years in our original, 1936 cypress wood lagering tanks. The brew was then transferred onto 4,800 pounds of blackberries and allowed to age for an additional four months. The resulting beer is medium to light in body and deep purple in color. Its high level of carbonation highlights the bright, tar aromas while the complex character of the blackberries takes center stage. Unfiltered, Tidal Disruption has been hand-filled and bottle-conditioned to allow the flavors to continue to develop and evolve in the bottle. Enjoy this unique interpretation of a Berliner Weisse chilled, in a pokal glass or weibbierschale."

750ml bottle. Caged and corked bottle. Bottled 'AUG 2016'.
Cloudy dark brown/purplish colored body. Brief pinkish head with each pour, quickly retreats and leaves a interrupted bubbly ring. No lacing.
Aroma is lactic and blackberries. As noted before, this has the smell of yogurt.
Taste is full of blackberries, slightly tart. Has the tangy wheat touch, along with the lactic presence from the yeast. Expresses dry at the end.
Medium mouth feel, with lots of effervescence in the mouth. Higher carbonation.
The initial impression is that the beer will express some sweetness, but this is quickly overcome by the wheat and the yeast, which leaves a tart expression of the blackberries. I think this beer has aged well into its dry wheat ale with the high touch of blackberries.

25.36-oz bottle received from my in-laws for Christmas 2017
Bottled: August 2016
poured into Stella Artois chalice

A - beautiful deep purple body under a finger of rose foam; like a foamy wine

S - tart berries, grapey notes, wheat, rather acidic, quite tart; like a wine

T - light wheat, lemony bitterness, berries, almost grapey, bitter and tart; like a wine

M - highly carbonated light body, bitter and tart, dry finish

O - This is a new style for me. This is not something I would seek in the future, but it seems very good for what it is. This is more like a wine than a beer in my book.

750ml Cage & Corked
$14.99
Keyport Liquors - Superior, WI.

August 2016

These Nobel Star releases are handsome. From the classy curvature of the bottle to the simple yet artistic labels. The beer it self ain't too shabby either. The body is of the deepest saturated blackberry color, deep red bordering on purple. Deep purple bordering on red, whatever. The foam has a pink tinge and is as lively as they come. The head snaps and crackles on the pour. While it dies down to a skimming rather quickly that active carbonation bolsters a thick ring that's microbubbled and tight.

Damn, the fruit has stayed surprisingly present. The nose opens with that initial burst of damp wheat that makes up the base. The blackberries are there, slightly tart, as a welcoming component. A soft lactic acidity lurks in there as well and when combined with the blackberries is reminiscent of yogurt. A quick flash of lemon and some tannic qualities such as skin and stem add. Gets me salivating.

The blackberry is more subtle in the flavor profile and this brings forward more of that great Berliner, Star of the North, base. A rather large wheaty twang gets things going with bright lemon and softly acidic blackberry in the middle. The lactic acidity isn't as bold in the flavor, the yogurt quality is slight. There are, again, some tannic qualities that I rather enjoy with this beverage. This is good stuff.

The mouthfeel is spot on. The lively effervescence I mentioned above is airy and spritzy on the tongue and manages to invade every nook and cranny. A mild tartness washes over everything and lingers after the swallow. The finish is dry, a little tannic, and refreshing. This beer disappears quickly.

Tidal Distruptions has held up amazingly well for such a low alcohol beer with fruit. The blackberry is still present as are all the delicious, defining characteristics of the base. It's bright and vibrant with a quenching tartness. This beer is incredibly easy to drink. Another job well done up there at Schell's.

Poured 750ml into teku. Color is dark plum with a 2 finger very light purple head. Thin collar and spots of lacing. Fresh berry and blackberry jam in a Berliner Weiss. Hints of lemon and wood. It is tart, but not overly, there is some sweetness. I can tell this was aged over blackberries and it has a nice juice and slightly jammy quality. Some lemon zest and straw finish it off. Light bodied and big carbonation makes for a fantastic mouthfeel. I have enjoyed this series and have trended toward buying the fruited varieties.

Boy this was nice. Great color - reddish purple of blackberries. Throughout a solid mix of berry and Berliner weiss tart. Evidenced in the aroma and flavor. While appropriately thin for style also had a nice richness that my drinking partner labeled wine like.
This series is nice. Just wish they were a few dollars less expensive.

Thanks to Jeff for this one. 750ml corked and caged grenade bottle into a Surly teku. Shared with schen9303.

When berlinerweisse has that deep and vibrant color, its pretty impressive. Nose is juicy blackberry. Pungent and intense with little tartness. Body is light with ample carbonation. Beer opens a little watery. Juicy and seedy blackberry in the middle with a foamy presence. Very lightly puckering with sweet fruit accents. Finishes soft with a lot of bubbles. This is exactly what's advertised. Prickly and lively in the mouth and goes down puckering and accented. Real drinkable.

A perfectly crafted, balanced, subtle berliner. I love it!
