Hazy golden sunshine color on an uber aggressive pour, propping up a white head that dissipates before you can dial the operator. Funkiness all over the nose, and a touch of lemon citrus.
The lemon citrus is more prominent on the taste, and there’s a noticeable oak flavor, too, to accompany the funky Brett flavor. This is the kind of beer Schell’s excels at, and this is no exception.

Harmony of Spheres pours a clear golden color, with a long lasting and lacing head. Aroma is very earthy, sour and lots of elderberries. Flavor has some oak, sour, lots of elderberry, that finishes sweet and sour. Strong body and feel. Overall, big rich sour beer.

750 mL bottle. Clear golden. Smell is not what I expected. It's a little vegetal and not that fruity. Bready grain with a little bit of lactic acidity. Tastes a tad green as well. Wood immediately permeates. Wheat and bready malt. Still not that fruity, unless the fruit is providing that raw green flavor. Back end is a little more fruity. Strong wheat and a little stone fruit. Light body and well carbonated. Seems like a good beer, but the green flavor is a detractor.

A big thanks to Jeff for this one. Keep ticking off those August Schell berliners!
750ml corked and caged grenade bottle into a Surly teku. Shared with schen9303.
Great goldenrod color. Nose is zesty. Hints of lemon, yeast, wood and white wine grapes. Beer opens moderately tart and spritzy. A huge funk appears in the middle that's quite nice. Oak, yeast and a white grape skins. Cheesy almost. Is that the gooseberries talking? If so, I like it! Light bodied with huge carbonation and aggressive on the palate.
A real pleasant surprise!

Poured from 750 mL bottle into tulip. Bottled July 2016.
A: Pours a clear pale yellow with 2-3 inch fizzy white head that gradually recedes.
S: Funky farmhouse brett, soft lemon, white pepper, tart lime, and a hint of hops.
T: Funky brett hits first, quickly followed by a mix of citrus (lemon, orange, and lime). The citrus is sweeter here than in the aroma (was more tart).
M: Light body. Sweet and tart and very dry. Refreshing. Lingers nicely on the palate too.
D: Another nice addition to the Noble Star collection. I was a bit wary when I saw it was fermented with gooseberries, but they lend a very interesting citrusy aspect to the brew. Give it a go!

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Two fingers of white head quickly fade to a ring around the edge of the glass. Color is straw with what appears to be a green tinge to it. Smells of vinegar, lemon peel, funk and a little hop coming through. Tastes is as you'd expect from a Berliner Weisse but with more complexity on the finish. Overall another winner in the Noble Star collection.
