Bottle. Orange gold color.
This is one is really basic for the starkeller series. Lightly sour. A bit of citrus. Berliner base. Some lemon. Kind of watery compared to the others in this series. It’s okay, but not my thing.

Cloudy light golden yellow. Nice white head. Apple pear. Slightly tart aroma.
Taste more tart less fruit but with more complexity. Smooth and astringent. Easy tasty drink.

Thanks to Jeff for this one. 750ml corked and caged grenade bottle into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303.
Nose is very classic berliner. Yeasty with hints of lemon zest, a touch of sweetness and a little bready. Kind of mellow and soft with the slightest metallic twinge. Beer opens sharp. Again, metallic with notes of lemon peel, unripened pear, oak and metal shavings. A slight fruit peel bitterness at the finish with a foamy, lemonade aftertaste. Body is light with ample carbonation. Foamy and prickly on the palate and goes down accented with a bright, lingering aftertaste.
The nose is great here as it reminds me of a classic berliner but the taste doesn't quite come through. Tartness needs a little more balance and a touch more softness.

Hoping this turns out to be Star of the North, which I loved so much, turned up to 11. Straw color with a quickly fading fizzy carbonation. A small head forms and quickly disappears. Aroma of lemon, funky cheese, and oakey white wine. Flavor is a touch on the sweet side but no where near the the fruited Berliners Schell's has released. Vinous qualities abound on the palate. Slightly oakey but the funkiness is subdued. The carbonation falls off a little too quickly. Should be more vibrant. I loved the funk in some of Schell's previous examples. Maybe this beer needs a couple of years in the bottle to bring out the greatness.
