Schell's Tropical Stout, 8.5% ABV. Pours thick and black, with a two finger tan head. Nose is slight alcohol and roasty malt, perhaps a hint of chocolate. Taste is a wonderful roasted malt, chocolate, a very slight bitter coffee close. The chocolate lingers in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is outstanding - very smooth. Overall outstanding - I'd have to put this in my top 10 stouts, and I've tried a lot of stouts. I'll pick up a pack for the cellar. A real easy-drinking stout.

Poured into tulip. It is very dark brown with a 1.5 finger tan head that fades with some spotty lacing on my glass. Aroma is deep roasted malt, bitter chocolate and some dried fruit. Flavors of dark chocolate, a bit of burnt malt, along with dried fruit, light earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium, smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. Well made stout.

Smells roasted malt, dark fruit, light Citrus and molasses.
Taste light roasted malts, hint of dark chocolate, molasses hints, hints of char and citrus bitterness. Finishes dry with a roasted malt linger. Medium body and creamy lower carbonation.

Pours a very dark (almost black) brown in color with a thick khaki head that lingers and eventually recedes to a thin layer that lasts and leaves lacing after each sip. The aroma is burnt roast molasses with a touch of rum. The taste is slightly charred malts with only a touch of rum and molasses. The feel is a tad light but overall a pretty good (not great) beer.

A very enjoyable stout. Classic look with black body capped by a thick and lacing dark tan head. Sweet, but not overly, rich dark malt aroma and flavor with a citrus hop presence that blends and never overwhelms. Smooth feel with the carbonation adding to the richness of the texture. Really a pleasing drink.

This beer pours a very dark black color. The head was off white, 1 1/2 finger, and frothy with nice lacing. The nose has notes of chocolate and coffee in it. The taste is rich with those previous mentioned aromas. It's good, but I don't get the "tropical" part. I don't get any tropical flavors in this beer. It's delicious, but confusing based on the name. It has a watery feel to it. It's a good beer, but, honestly, a miss on the Stag Series brand.
