We combined two different traditionally made Berliner Weisses that had both aged for a year in a pair of our original, 80 year-old cypress wood foudres to create the base for Binary Storm. We then added 5,000 pounds of Michigan boysenberries and gave it an additional three months of aging. Binary Storm pours pansy purple in color with a refreshingly high level of carbonation. Bright, sweet floral aromas radiate from the glass along with notes of fruit loops. The juicy, sweet tart character of the boysenberries are on full display with a crisp, tangy acidity, and glowingly rich, jammy fruitiness.

Bottle. Purple hued white head. Purple maroon color.

This is really enjoyable for a berry variant. A little tart, a little sour. Very fruity. Has a softness to it, very jammy like. Light citrus. Very drinkable. One of the better in the series.

750 mL bottle. Pours deep red. Smells of yogurt acidity and deep sweet berries. Tastes tart right up front. Bright yogurty tartness. Berries behind it with hints of grain and woodiness in the finish. Berries lend a light vinous note. Medium light. Very nice.

750ml bottle. Caged and corked bottle. Bottled 'JUNE 2018'.
Muddy cranberry colored body. Fizzy head settles back, which leaves a bubble refreshed ring. No lacing.
Aroma of boysenberries and cypress.
Taste is more sweet but there is some sourness also. Big, thick boysenberry flavor, with lemon, and a little earthy/woody funk.
Thinner mouth feel. Lots of carbonation.
This is a very fruity beer, with a balance of sweet and sour. Dry at the end.

Bottled: June 2018

Cloudy purple drank color. But there is a small head that forms and settles to a thin cap. Aroma is boysenberry jam with a slight hint of blue cheese and brett funk. Jammy flavor. Fruity sweet. Very mild sour and funk notes. i prefer Schell's Berliners to be less fruity and more sour and funky so this one is not my favorite. Although I do like boysenberries. Nice lively carbonation relives some of the sweetness.
