This sour is the result of brewing a big, dark, malty beer in a typical Berliner Weisse fashion. Black Prism has a deep acidity with a sweet tart fruit character and a subtle fruity earthiness on top of layers of dark malts.

A big thanks to Jeff for this bottle. 750ml grenade corked and caged bottle into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303.
Looks like a blackberry milk shake with a dense, creamy head. Nose is smoke, plums, blackberry seediness and purple grapes. Full disclosure: I've never had a Black Currant. A nice mix of dark fruit with an added creaminess. Beer opens blackberry tartness mixed with hints of coffee, roasted malt and peaty berry seeds. I don't think I've ever had a combination of flavors like this. Middle is more peat. Dried bitter plum and cocoa powder. Finishes almost acrid with a creamy dark fruit finish. Body is light with moderate carbonation. Prickly and lively on the palate and goes down puckering with a lingering, filmy aftertaste.
A very interesting beer. Like I said, I've never had black currant before... and I don't know if I'm a fan. But this is certainly worth trying if you're into that fruit.

750 mL bottle. Pours deep purple and murky. Smells of black currant and mushroom earthiness. Tastes lightly tart. Black currant. No sweetness. Just earthiness. Medium light. The earthiness is overpowering and kinda weird, although not awful. There's just very little of the good flavors to redeem it.

Poured from 750ml bottle into glass. Label has bottling date as 'JUNE 2018'.
Deep ruby brown colored body. Pink tinged creamy head, which sticks around. Leaves behind some varying horizontal and vertical patterns of lacing.
Deep aromatic aromas of black currants, cherry, and cypress wood. Background hints of dark malts mixed with coffee.
Taste is sour, with a slightly sweet/tart mix of dark berry fruits such as black currants. Very dry finish, which wipes the palate. Incorporates some woody tones from the cypress barrels. Late in the taste profile the dark malts and coffee make a brief appearance.
Medium to full mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
Tart and dry but not a total enamel scraper. Quite complex with the cypress wood barrel, the dark malts, and the minor coffee note. Mainly is a barrel aged sour beer that has picked up the dark berry fruit (black currants) during final aging in the barrel. Further time in the bottle may mellow the sour a bit and bring forth the dark malts. If this would develop some chocolate tones the beer would be sublime.
