A rich and toasty black lager with notes of caramel, toffee and a light chocolate malt sweetness. Dark and malty, this beer is the perfect winter sipper.

Part of the Brewer's Stash 12 pack, Winter 2020/2021.

Good aroma - dried fruits, slightly sweet, a bit floral. No toastiness, though.

Dark walnut color, clear, with abundant carbonation rising to a 1 inch tan creamy head with OK retention. The head recedes to a thick cap within a few minutes and leaves no lacing.

Wow!. Very flavorful. The initial hit is the dried fruits, followed by a mix of sweet bread, a touch of toast, and the floral rounding things out. The floral adds an open-air freshness that is unusual for bock beers, but it works quite well. There is no bittering at all. The middle and finish continue the mixture of flavors already noted, and the finish / aftertaste is smooth. It's not dry or crisp, but it is not into sweet territory, either. Very enjoyable and light. As I drink, the dried fruit flavors become more prominent, with a touch of caramel making an appearance, while still retaining the floral lightness.

The mouth feel is smooth and light.

Overall, a quite enjoyable take on the bock style. It is a bit deceptive, though. The dark color would lead you to expect a heavy or roasted beer, but it is almost the opposite: light and floral.

Can. Tan head. Lace. Dark caramel brown, black.

Caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, toasted notes, molasses, toffee. A nice traditional bock. Smooth, medium bodied.

A-Dark brown with black notes...

S-Roasted maltiness....

T-Roasty....hints of coffee and cream...touch of caramel. Definitely some chocolate as well. The flavor reminds more of a brown (English) porter than a bock. It is cleaner tasting but the flavor gives that impression. I'm not getting any toasted malt...roasted malts yes.

F-Clean...medium bodied.

O-I really like the flavor and drinkability of this beer but it falls short of a bock characteristics.

Would also be nice to see an ABV on the can or some sort of details on the website. That can't be too much to ask of a brewery of this stature can it be?

Dark brown color with a small tan head. Strong caramel aroma with lesser notes of chocolate and grain. Despite the aroma it is not too sweet tasting. More balanced with chocolate malt and I would guess Vienna malt. Notes of toasted bread with mild caramel sweetness. Medium body and I am guessing this is not a very big beer maybe 6% ABV. Nicely carbonated.

Nice looking beer. very dark brown almost black body that lets a micro amount light thru. nice tall fine light tan heads that lasts a while leaving plenty of lacing.
Smell. not much for smell, roast/toasty sweet malt.
taste: Sweet but not cloying sweet. rather smooth. Toasted bread. caramel, Toffee, chocolate. hint of roasted malt. This one needs to warm up some to get the full flavors.
Decent mouth feel
Another what I call a toasty roasty beer. A good beer 3.94/5
On a side note it's odd how Schell's media doesn't list and barely mentions this beer when it's out already.
