August Schell Lake Escape Kölsch, 4.5% ABV. On tap. Pours clear yellow, just some foam around the shore of the glass by the time I got it. Nose is bread, taste is toasty and slightly bitter. Decent mouthfeel, though under-carbonated. Overall very good.

Lake Escape pours a clear, golden color with a small, long-lasting lacing head. The aroma is bold and bitter. The flavor is bigger, with a hint of cream, and has a nice, fresh, clean, bitter hop flavor. Great feel. Overall, it was very flavourful and a bit more bitter.

12oz can. Bottom date stamp is '100724'.
Clear, pale gold colored body. One finger of frothy white head retreats to islands and a ring.
Aroma of toasted malts and a general fruitiness, more towards citrus.
Taste is toasted bread maltiness, with a bit of citrus lemon. The balance lingers into the aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel. Low bitterness but there is a bite at the end. Good carbonation.
Refreshing and clean.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Clear pale yellow, ok head.

Smell: Mild fruitiness, bit of hay.

Taste: Light, grains, mild light fruitiness, light bodied. Finishes very dry with mild grassiness.

Overall: I'm not a huge kolsch fan, but this one from Schell is pretty interesting. Much drier and less fruity than other examples in my opinion. Interesting change of pace for a “light” beer.

A really nice sessionable beer that just feels like a relaxing day off. Pours very straw yellow, Super clean and crisp. Nice hop aromas and a malt forward taste that lingers on the tounge. No reason to turn down one of these and nice change from IPAs.

Pours clear straw yellow with a thick white head. Decent lacing. Aroma is corn, yeast, biscuits, light malt, and touch of citrus. Flavor follows the nose, a bit sweet up front followed by some European style hops. Feel is light and well carbonated. Overall, a fine light style beer.

Aroma is sweet pale malts/bread and mild fruit. The flavor is fruit/light citrus and a mildly sweet pale/beery malt/slightly hoppy/mostly smooth finish.

12oz can into a Kolsch glass.
L: Pours straw light yellow w/a 3/4" tight bright white head w/large carbo bubbles, decent head retention, some very light lacing.
S: Crackery bread crust, light grains, lightly floral.
T: Grabbing bitterness with a bit of a pow! and attenuated carbonation which leads to paleness, citrus rind & gentle wild flowers. It is embodied with a ripe fruit note.
F: Crisp, lightly spritzy & snappy light bodied mouthfeel with a parching dry fast finish. Mighty dry on the tongue. It is essentially champagne dry.
O: I truly enjoy this beers active dryness. Citrus & dry. Parching yet quenching and refreshing altogether. It's simplicity is to be admired and it is excellent in it's style.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden yellow color with a small, white head of bubbly foam. It left minimal lace on the glass. It smelled of floral notes, grains, caramel and some fresh cut grass. Nice caramel and bread taste with a decent bitter bite.

Appearance: Pours a clear light golden body with a strong white head. SRM of 6-7. (3.75)

Aroma: Mild aromas of citrus fruit upfront. Then some pale and cereal malt and yeast. (3.50)

Flavor: Moderate flavors of pale malts with a mild yeasty grape and vinous notes. Turns into a crackery and pale malt body before a yeasty finish that lingers with a clean finish.

Feel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Mild grape and yeast lingers on the finish.

Compared to Utepils Skolsch 7/27/22: Milder aromas. More sweet grape. Less citrus, honey, and yeasty. Winner: Skolsch.

Overall: A decent Kolsch-style beer here. This one has nice and slightly sweet grape note. Leans slightly heavier bodied with grape. Not overpowering, but lets you know it's there. A decent amount of yeast and carbonation. Not one that stands out, but a good representation of the style. (Rating: 3.72)

From a BOM club can into a pint glass. This one is a looker -- golden body with perfect clarity and an inviting white foam of head with effervescence rising up. On the nose is hints of grassy spice and at moments an almost banana/cardamon like sensation. Taste matches the grassy spice well with the bitterness winning out over the weaker malt backbone. Feel is refreshing, crisp, and very summery. Overall a nice summer brew that well help quench one's thirst in these hotter days.

A Microbrewed Club offering. Pours a clear gold with a foamy head that lasts quite a while. No discernable aroma. Crisp and dry. Slightly bitter at the finish.

Appearance: Pours a proudly crystalline, light yellow body with an inch of snowy white foam.

Smell: Almost squeaky clean maltiness with a faint, subtle fruity, winy accent.

Taste: Soft barley with a modest breadiness that presents just a bit of brief sweetness. Faintly winy. Very scant hop hint. A little graininess proceeds the dry, crisp, cleansing finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: A very drinkable offering to combat the unpleasant mugginess of Georgia.

This pretty much hits the mark for a Kolsch or Kolsch "style. Clean, crisp, light fruitiness on the aroma and flavor...rounded soft maltiness...but not as malty as some Kolsch's....still this is probably closer to true to style than the maltier ones...

Subtle and delicate overall....not loaded with flavor not is is expected to be...just a nice clean drinker that is well made for the style.
