12oz can, painted label. Bottom stamp is '031426 003717'.
Dark cola brown colored body, with a red amber back lit edge. Two fingers of light tan head but this collapses to a thin cap and higher ring. Leaves behind one main horizontal ring and scattered spots of lacing.
Aroma is malty with a bit of char, along with molasses and a whiff of citrus.
Taste is darkly sweet with an oncoming bitterness at the end. Flavors of dark toasted malts, a bit of char, caramel, and molasses. Some citrus and dark fruit (raisin/prune) emerges at the end. The aftertaste goes back to the dark toasted malts. Sweet early on, and more bitter mid-point to the end of each sip.
More than medium mouthfeel. Smooth and creamy texture. Mineral note with the dark fruit. Dry finish. Good carbonation.
Handsome dark brown colored body, and a rewarding dark lager taste profile. Aftertaste lingers for a long time (earthy grain malts).

From a 12oz can. Best by 03/07/2026
Super dark pouring beer. There's amber hues shining through when I hold it to the light. There's a 2 finger tan head when poured from the can. The head retention is decent, but there's not a lot of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is quite nutty smelling and very malty. Lots of roasted character to it.
The flavor of this beer is malty, yet complex. There's a roasted nutty flavor up front. The back is a malty biscuit flavor with caramel notes to it.
The body is great. It has some light elements to it, but it also has a nice clingy feeling.
I am a fan of Schells. A lot of family tradition with the brewery. They have made a massive hit with this beer. I would hope it isn't a one off.

Appearance: Dark brown/dark red in light, big head.
Smell: Toasted bread and some dark fruit notes.
Taste: Starts neutral, then a nicely balanced flavor comes through. Toast, some light sweetness with light raisin, finishing with light earthiness. Medium bodied.
Overall: Always fun to try the yearly Snowstorm release from Schell's, this year is a dark toasted lager. It's a very nice flavorful lager that isn't too heavy but still brings the deliciousness.

To me this is somewhat like a Munich Dunkel style wise.
Taste is a toasty roasty bitterness, some chocolate and caramel. plus dark bread with a hint of spice like rye maybe.
Its more bitter than sweet.
It's a good beer but doesn't really stand out.

From a can, poured into a Schell's dimpled mug. Pours a dark cola colour and leaves a big, pillowy head. Taste is roasted malt fading into a toasty finish. Will see how it is as it warms up to room temp.
