1st review of this beer on BA. Thanks to leftpaw for bringing it out in October 2018.
Pours a color a little bit lighter than orange, a light amber dark gold kind of impression. Head was thin, 1/4" I'd say, white in color. Aroma hit those orange groves and french oak, nice. Also this is one of those wild ale saisons. Its sour smelling. Reminds me of one of those orange wines in a way.
Taste is sharp acidity of oranges and a hint of stone fruit. Has that brett funkiness to it, but don't go expecting it to be massive. Gives a nice chewy counterpounch to the acidity. Fruit effect is well done. Generally not a fan of abv's this high for a saison or wild ale, or saison/wild ale hybrids like this, but the alcohol did not sting or change the profile of the beer, so this was an exception to that general rule. I'm guessing the combination of honey and wine barrel helped the nice dry mouth feel.
$14/375. . . so more than $1 per ounce. This is a real fence straddler. Liked the beer, but not the price point.
