Double India Pale Ale with Citra, Amarillo, HS 1228 & HBC 472.

Colorado voter turnout in the 2016 Presidential Election was 72.1%, making us 4th highest in the nation...but we think you can do even better, Coloradoans. We strongly believe in your constitutional right to representation. Get out there and be heard. Hopeful and positive notes of Frozen Pina Colada, Spruce Tips, and Clementines.

Picked up way too much beer on a recent work trip to the Boulder area. Basically searched for Knotted Root, Outer Range, New Image, WeldWerks and Cerebral, among others, only finding the latter two at the one place I was at. Had one can at the hotel on Nov. 27, giving it a 4.25 on Untappd and writing, “Excellent for now. Lots of Citra, grapefruit and sappy pine. Full review another time.” Cerebral’s website called it, “Double India Pale Ale with Citra, Amarillo, HS 1228 & HBC 472. Colorado voter turnout in the 2016 Presidential Election was 72.1%, making us 4th highest in the nation...but we think you can do even better, Coloradoans. We strongly believe in your constitutional right to representation. Get out there and be heard. Hopeful and positive notes of Frozen Pina Colada, Spruce Tips, and Clementines.” I believe I had HBC 472 once before, but looking it up the hop profile was described as, “Exceptionally unique, woody, herbal, and vanilla aromas, with a mix of floral and tropical fruit. Imparts an oaky/bourbon wood aged character to beer.” Damn that sounded good. HS 1228, meanwhile, was labeled as, “Pronounced tropical fruit (mango, pineapple) with citrus and pine.”

Poured a dark pale hazy color with four fingers of rocky white head. Plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Perfect thick, foamy, spiderweb lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 5.00)

Smelled Citra, grapefruit, spruce, sappy pine, coconut, wood, Amarillo, clementine, tangerine, pineapple, mango and herbal. So much better out of the can with more Citra, grapefruit, clementine, wood and hints of peach. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted just as good as I remembered it. Big Citra, followed by grapefruit, sappy spruce, oaky wood, pine, bitter citrus rind, Amarillo, clementine, tangerine, mango, pineapple, peach, vanilla, coconut, herbal and some lingering spice. Looking at hop profile, for sure a healthy dose of HBC 472 and lesser HS 1228. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)

Just an excellent beer. Glad I picked it up. (Overall - 4.25)
