Can (too damn small) - poured a lightly hazed pale gold with a decent 2 finger bone white cap. Aroma is well defined yet delicate - cooked cereals, wet hay, earthy tones. Medium bodied, sturdy malt spine with a well rounded finished character soft doughy mouth feel. Flavor is decent - much like a Dortmunder but with better hop balance - clean bready finish with a small hop bite at the end - uncomplicated 2 dimensional blonde lager - well made and carefully conditioned for smooth flavorful delivery - I like German lagers and this one was a pleasant surprise, I wasn't expecting much but this is a great lager for pairing with almost any summer foods.

A very meh flavor with little to slightly sour aftertaste.

473 mL can picked up at TBS and served well-chilled. No packaging date.
Pours a clear straw-yellow colour, with an inch of frothy, sparkling white-coloured head that fades off over the next 2-3 minutes. A foamy cap and collar remain afterwards, underneath a thin curtain of lace. Not much on the nose at all - some pale malt and cereal grain sweetness, with light notes of grass and straw. Apropos for the style.
Passable lager, but not a very good one. Grainy pale malt sweetness and apple skin, followed by some weedy, grassy hop notes. Wet hay and earth at the finish, with an off-dry aftertaste. Light, watery body with moderate carbonation levels and a relatively crisp mouthfeel. Refreshing and easy to drink, but most of the imports easily surpass it.
Final Grade: 3.38, a B-. Most of Thornbury's beers are re-branded King Brewery products, but Blue Mountain Lager seems to be an entirely new recipe. Unfortunately, I'm left unimpressed - although I like most German-style pale lagers, this is just not a very good one. Reminiscent of Henninger Lager or Löwenbrau, which are probably my two least-favourite Munich Helles lagers - I could drink this without complaint if I really had to, but the helles lagers of Spaten, Benediktiner and Hacker-Pschorr all blow it out of the water (and cost less). I'd rather stick with their Pickup Truck pils.
