Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a small head of white foam. The head fades rather fast, leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is citrus heavy with a strong showing of sweet grapefruit and bitter grapefruit rind coupled with some tangerine and a bit of lime. There is also a rather moderate showing of a bready smell as well as notes of grain and a touch of caramel and hay.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and cracker malt backbone paired with the grapefruit hop that was in the nose. There is also some light sweetness of a tangerine and caramel nature with a bit of lemon and lime citrus backing as well. As the taste advances some pine joins in the hop profile while the sweet fades at the expense of more breadiness, leaving one with a nicely hopped and well malt supported, more west coast like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness with a fine and moderate level of carbonation.
Overall – A rather balanced and easy drinking IPA. I would certainly come back to this brew again.

Poured from the 16oz can into a plastic cup at the ORD airport with a spicy Italian beef. The beer is a pure gold color topped with a 2 finger foamy white head. Smell is bright, a bit piney with citrus peel. Balancing bready malt and a touch of sweetness. Taste is balanced, slightly sweet and plenty of citrus. Not too bitter relatively. Finishes with a hintnof pine and a lingering sweetness. OK overall.

This beer gets higher marks for character than content.
The Billy Goat and Tavern are big parts of Chicago mid-to-late 20th Century history. Commemorating the Lovable Losers (The Cubs) is worth some Overall Hugs. And while the ale is not bad, it is only slightly above average.
Looks are above average, a generous billowy foam. Smells are full-on grapefruit. Tastes could be more balanced (less hops) if I were to have this with lunch. Medium-to-light mouthed.
Only my 3rd brew from Miskatonic and with a hiatus of three years, I see they have opened a gastro-pub in Naperville. The menu looks worth a visit if I had the time. The previous two brews were Belgian, both good for what was, then, a six year old micro. So Miskatonic has prospered and I hope to try their promising Belgians again soon.

16 oz can into a pint glass. Clear orangeish-amber color with a fluffy white head with good retention and lacing. Strong floral hop and orange + grapefruit citrus aroma. Similar flavor profile, although the hops are spicier. Medium body but a little flat. No best-by date on the can; wondering if it's a little past its prime.

16 fl oz. can, no date. No abv listed. I just discovered this beer is now brewed by Miskatonic Brewing Company, out of Darien, IL. Previously brewed by Baderbrau, according to BeerAdvocate.
Poured to stemless wine snifter..
A: Typical golden orange IPA body, strong finger and a half of frothy white suds. Lots of excellent spotty lacing. Appears adequately carb'd. Looks good to me.
S: Aroma is fresh, floral, grassy. Fairly typical of the style, with notes of pine, resin, grapefruit, with a good helping of bready malt backbone to round things off.
T: Traditional IPA flavors.. pine, grapefruit, bitter rinds, dank resin on the end. It's grassy, floral, hoppy, & fresh, what more could you really ask for in an IPA?
F: No abv listed, but it feels like 5.50% or round about. It's crisp, fresh, floral, & easy to drink.
Overall, I'm going to give it 4's across the board. I've had this before, but didn't realize Miskatonic brews it now. It paired well with our grilled Billy Goat cheezborgers...
