The rye gives this brew slightly more body than regular amber and a unique aftertaste found only in beers with rye malt. Nutty, malty, and smooth, this amber is bound to satisfy.

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance- The beer is served a dark reddish amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a moderate level of retention, fading over about 1 min to leave bits of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is strongest of a caramel and bready smell mixed with wisps of rye bread. Along with these aromas comes some light smells of a pine and herbal nature as well.

Taste – The taste begins as the nose would have suggested with a sweeter caramel flavor that has notes of dark fruits and bread. The rye portion of the bread is light upfront, but grows stronger as the flavor moves forward. All the while some of the herb and pine tastes that were detected in the nose begin to develop. In the end with a little bit more roastiness coming to the tongue, one is left with a malty and bready but smooth flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the style it is rather pleasant as it creates a smooth palatable medium for the flavors.

Overall – A pretty nice and easy drinking rye overall and one to try if you get the opportunity.

On draft at the brewery

Dark amber color, clear. Caramel malt aroma, a little earthy herbal note in there too. Similar taste. Good balance. Sticky mouthfeel.

This review is from notes (actual, written notes on "stickies" provided by the pub). Poured from the draft handle into a pint sized mug. The head isn't very big, but the little that's produced tends to stick around. The beer is a reddish-brown amber color.

I noted a touch of DMS in the aroma, which is otherwise subtly malty. The flavor is very malty, with nutty notes predominating over a spicy bite. A tad bit of astringency somewhat like unroasted acorns can be detected in the finish, which is dry overall.

This is a very drinkable brew like everything else I've tried at this brewery. Well above average for this locality.

I found this place the first week they were open... The wife and I showed up shortly after opening ... There was already one customer that was getting 3x growlers filled... Growler of this one was taken back to Boise and shared with the geeks... Pours a beautiful clear walnut, no head or retention.. nutty dark toast with a pronounced rye aroma and flavor... very drinkable... the body is has a little slickness to it that I guess comes from the rye.. No real yeast profile... pretty clean. Nice brew for sure.
