Pours hazy golden orange with particles. Thick, medium, off white head fades slowly to Rocky head and good lacing.
Smells yeasty banana, pear, funk, citrus, bready malt and light clove.
Tastes clove, banana, pear, apple, light burnt sugar, bready make and earthy bitterness. Finish is dry with yeasty and earthy linger. Medium body add lightly fizzy higher carbonation.

12 FL OZ bottle
Served in a weizen glass
This beer pours hazy amber with golden highlights. It is topped with two inches of beige head that leaves little lacing.
It has a fruity, banana and clove aroma.
The flavor is just as good as the smell. The banana is not overbearing, while the clove compliments the banana flavor. I also get a spicy fruitiness that ties it all together.
Medium with prickly carbonation
This is a very well done weizenbock. The smell and flavor are great. It reminds me of some of the great German examples. I am glad I picked this beer up on a visit to the taproom.

A: Pours the color of wild honey. Nice white, foamy head that takes its time to sit back down. Classic looking beer.
S: Funny that a reviewer mentioned ripe banana because you do get that along with those nice cloves. Wheat bread and yeast smell which is evenly matched with sweet malts and citrus floral notes.
T: Heavier flavors of spice are forefront. Bread flavors of wheat and grain. Bitter and sweet with sweet hanging on much longer on the taste buds.
M: Great medium body with creaminess all the way through. Carbonation hangs on.
O: I'm far from expert on German style weizen beer but the few that I have had would put this in the lighter end of the weizen class. Easier to drink than most; lighter in color and not as full bodied. Also, creamier than what I expected. I liked it and would recommend this after some hard work and with hard pretzels.

I picked up a bottle of Old Nation's Golden 7 for $1.89 at The Lager Mill. It's been a little while since I've tried a new Weizenbock and I'm interested to see how this one stacks up, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a weizen glass.
A- The label looks ok, the design goes with the name, but it isn't the most eye catching. It poured a nice cloudy orange color that took on more of a darker orange color when held to the light with a half a fingers worth of slightly creamy off white head that died down to at thin ring that eventually faded away and it left a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, it looks like a lighter example of the style.
S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with that yeast being the first to show up and it imparts a ripe banana, medium amount of cloves with some more lingering spices. Up next comes the malts which impart a wheat, pale malt and a slight grainy aroma with a little bit of orange like aroma showing up towards the end. This beer has a pretty nice aroma, it's pretty close to what I would expect from a lighter example of the style.
T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the yeast still sticking out the most and it imparts that same ripe banana aspects that I got in the aroma with just a little less spices this time. Up next comes the malts which impart more of wheat and grainy like flavor with a little more of that orange showing up with some doughy flavors in the background. On the finish there's pretty much no bitterness with some sweetness taking it's place and it wheat, yeast and orange like aftertaste. This is pretty nice tasting beer, it's about what I would expect from a lighter version of the style.
M- Smooth, slightly creamy, slightly refreshing, on the thicker side of being medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation.
Overall I thought this was a pretty good and a pretty good example of the style, it had pretty much all the aspects that I would expect from a lighter weizenbock and even though I prefer the darker versions of the style, this was still nice. This beer had nice drinkability, I could drink a couple, but that would be my limit. What I like the most about this beer is that it had nice balance, and no aspect was too overpowering. What I liked the least about this beer was nothing, everything was on the same level. I would buy this beer again when I want a lighter example of the style and I would recommend to anyone looking for the same. All in all I liked this beer and I was happy with it, no complaints. It's my new favorite Old Nation beer and it's a solid example of the style. Nice job guys this is a solid beer, keep it up.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours very hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, orange peel, pear, apricot, banana, bubblegum, clove, pepper, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange peel, pear, apricot, banana, bubblegum, clove, pepper, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate amount of yeast spiciness and light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange peel, pear, apricot, banana, bubblegum, clove, pepper, wheat, biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent helles weizenbock. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
