Electron Brown from Old Nation. Purchased 0n 4/1/21 for $ 4.00 (Including tax) for 16 oz can ($ 0.25/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. In reefer at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 25/1/21.
Stamped on the bottom “PKG” but rest smeared and unreadable. Served at 55.7 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 59.5 degrees.
Appearance – 4.25.
First pour – Amber brown (SRM 18), clear. Second pour is clear and produces 0.7 cm head.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque. When rear-lite, distinctly deep ruby/garnet.
Head – Large (Maximum 5.8 cm, aggressive center pour), desert sand, medium density with a few rocks, average retention, leaving a three mm crown fed by effervescence, and a thin complete cap with many rocks.
Lacing – Fair. Narrow band of tiny bubbles with blunt stalagmites and stalactites.
Aroma – 4.5 – Heavy caramel maltiness followed by roasted coffee, no hops, no yeast. As it warms, coffee knocks out the malt.
Flavor – 4.25 – Coffee is much weaker than expected (based on nasal expectations) and its bitterness balances the sweetness of the caramel maltiness, no hops, no yeast. No alcohol (8.1 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Medium, almost creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Actually decent, certainly less bitter than any expressos I have had. The question is, is the slight buzz I’m having from the expresso or the ABV?

 

Copenhagen 12/1 2020. 47,3 cl can from Fish & Beer, Amagerbrogade, Kbh. S. Drawing on the can that would arouse Tom of Finland. Biker with sun glasses and a peaked cap. Motor bike wheels, a wrench and coffee beans in the background.

Pours clear, very dark brown with a red hue. Small light beige head. Settles as thin puddels of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.

Aroma is intense, sweetish but with a strong coffee odor. Dark roasted malts, rich freshly grounded coffee, brown sugar, nuts. A more bitter coffee odor peeking in.

Light carbonation. Medium thick, smooth, soft, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor has a strong sweetness followed by medium strong coffee bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a light bitter undercurrent. Lingering.

A very nice roasted coffee bomb which manages to cover up a not insignificant ABV.

Very good mouthfeel and a nice nutty/roasty aroma. It's somewhat strong for a brown, and seemed a little boozy at first, but had a great finish and a very satisfying brew.

 

A good solid brown ale just slightly overpowering.

 

 

 

 

 

Pours golden brown with a brief flirtation with foam that settles into a persistence ring around the glass. An aroma of roasted expresso greets the nose. The taste is a puckering roasted, nutty brown ale with a hint of coffee, zero carbonation and lingering bitterness. Others find chocolate here but I find chocolate less pronounced, as well as the alcohol. This is an aggressive brown style and one for those that hold to the style front and center.

Cola brown appearance with light carbonation. Body is around medium with a slight creamy feel.
Aroma is a really nice mix of espresso beans,black coffee, burnt dark chocolate and roasted malts.
Taste is espresso beans, roasted malt, black coffee.
Overall an excellent beer

Well, it's brown, a dark brown. It's dense, too, with a modest biege head. The aroma is a nice soft combination of coffee and malt. The body is supple and the balance between malty sweet and espresso bitter is just about perfect. Without the heavy roasting of the malt, it brings no bitterness of its own. The coffee beans bring just the right amount of additional flavor and a slight edge to compete with the malt. There's just a little offsetting "greeness" with the taste, maybe only because by sight, the brain expects a little more bitterness. Perhaps it's the contribution of the chestnuts. The lacing of the glass is unworthy of mention. The absence of notice of any of the 8.1% ABV is scary. Unlike its cousins in the Imperial coffee stout family, this isn't quite as assertive in flavor, but it is one delightful experience.

16oz can, packaged 1/?/21. Pours dark brown with a big fluffy tan head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is roast chocolate fudge with coffee.

The flavor is roasted grains with a little sweet chocolate and some coffee in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little thin.

Overall, it's a little too grainy with not enough coffee.

 

 

 

Tall can with canning date on the bottom...kinda hard to read, I would be guessing.

The pour here is a very dark hue of brown, dark mocha mini cap and leaving a moderate film, collar and some strands of lacing left on the glass.

Rich chocolate and coffee beans on the sniff.

Thicker liquid as it crosses through the mouth.

Rich and flavorful brown ale, more chocolate, more coffee, more brownie notes...I added some of this to my mustard, pepper and garlic pork tenderloin marinade....and Im glad I did...tasty stuff....well worth a try
