Dark brown to amber in color. There’s a fingernail of beige on top. The aroma is of dark bread and caramel. I’m tasting caramel and dark bread. The mouth is smooth and very refreshing.

Fenestrum – from Old Nation. Four pack of 16 fl oz cans purchased from Riverside Liquors, Grand Rapids, MI, 21/08/24, $ 14.17 (including tax and deposit), $ 0.221 /fl oz. Reviewed 06/09/24 (Review 3350). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “PKG ON 05/02/24”. In reefer at the store. Stored at 34 degrees F at home. Served at 42.9 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 51.0 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.5
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), clear.
Body – Brown (SRM 20), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, beautiful ruby, and clear.
Head – Average (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), initially khaki but lightening to wheat as it oxygenates, high density, average retention, leaving 0.3 cm crown and rocky complete cap.
Lacing – Fair. Arcs and pincers of very tiny bubbles remain connected to the receding crown.
Aroma – 4 – Primarily dates and coffee with some weak chocolate. No hops, no alcohol (5 % ABV, according to the label).
Flavor – 4 – Primarily mildly bitter coffee with some date and chocolate flavoring. No hops, no alcohol. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; approaching creamy; soft carbonation.
Final Impression and summation: 4.25 Naturally, since I waited until the last can of the pack to review it, this can is different from the other three – more coffee forward, less dates. Still, a good example of the style. Fruit fly approved.

Poured mild coffee color and looks black in the glass. The beige head reaches a height of 1 cm before dissipating from its brief existence.
The taste is a little hoppy for my tastes, and the malt profile is more coffee than crackers, but not bad. Just not aligned with the style in my opinion.
The feel is good, quite good- has effervescence despite the lack of visible carbonation.
OA, while I would never turn one down, I won’t be buying more.

Pours a bubbly brown with a minimum head that disappears quickly. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, dark fruits and roasted malts. Taste is sweet and tangy with a slightly bitter finish.
