Solace Black Lager is surprisingly delicate and easy to drink, even though at first it appears dark and heavy. Its palate has a hint of roasted malt, while the aroma carries a smooth blend of natural mandarin zest, dark spices, and the cozy sweetness of speculoos cookie flavors.
It's the perfect fireside companion for a chilly fall night with familiar spices lingering in every sip.

Poured dark, like black coffee dark with an inch high beige head that left good lacing.
the taste is a malty lager with spices, rather like the spice combination that one finds in chai.
The feel is light, not quite crisp, very easy quaffing.
OA, not a huge fan of chai spice flavored beers so I likely won't revisit this, but it was fun to try.

Unique mandarin orange rind, chocolate vanilla spice flavors.

Look- darker body and a larger thick head with lots of lacing. This might be the beers best quality.
Smell- strangely sweet smelling? Offputting and unexpected.
Taste- medicinal taste matching the off-putting smell, raw spice? Not great from the start. Finishes with notes of bitter lime/citrus almost like biting into the seed of a lemon. Some notes of bready malt at the end as well, but it’s hard to fight through the acrid limey flavor.
Mouthfeel - smoother with light carbonation, fits the style. Not nearly as thick and creamy as the pour makes it appear it might be.
O- I was very disappointed that this could ever hit the shelf from Old Nation, a brewery I respect. Hit the hills, run, don’t buy this.

L- Medium dark body. Nice 3 finger head of brown lacing. Inviting.
S- This is where the wheels feel off. Strange, off putting nose. I have smelled this before, but not in a beer. Mostly likely in a medicine cabinet.
F- Good mouth feel.
T- Follows the nose. A very off-putting taste to this beer. A bad imitation lime popsicle? Nightquill?
O- Not recommeded. Drank two/drain poured two.
