this isnt very good. darker than a lot of the classic takes on this style, i was excited to try what looked to be something a little deeper, but this is almost bland and under flavored, the yeast just isnt there, and the malt, especially for its color, is so mild that its boring to me. no head at all on the pour, looks more like a dark brown or porter, and just totally still after a second. the malt has some cocoa to it, light cola notes, and simple german wheaty elements, but it doesnt taste fresh and its not really very vibrant or interesting for me. the yeast has the most subtle dried banana thing going on, no spice or anything, maybe fermented too cool, maybe just sloppy in quality, its tough to say, and with the beer being flat, its a bit of a chore to get through. i have liked the beers in here before, and have thought these guys have done some cool stuff, but this one is really lackluster and at a much lower overall quality than the rest of their stuff that i have had. just boring. hopefully this was a fluke...
