A wild take on our year round Free Verse India Pale Ale.
Brett Free Verse: Intentionally fermented with 100% Brettanomyces. As opposed to the ale yeast used to ferment traditional Free Verse, this Brett fermentation showcases funky flavors with a finish of ripe tropical fruit, diminishing the expected bitterness of an India Pale Ale and complementing the tropical flavors produced from Free Verse's aggressive Azacca dry-hop.
Free Verse: Tropical, Hazy, Juicy. Conform to the bitter expectations of your standard India Pale Ale? Not us. We pair the juicy, tropical flavors of Azacca hops with whole-cone spicy, piney Chinook to create a rounded bitterness. A hoppy, aroma-forward delight that will appeal to both IPA lovers and those who don’t think they like IPAs…yet.

500mL bottle picked up at the brewery. 7.00. No bottling date but I believe this was released in May or June. Served in a Barrel and Barley teku. Enjoyed 7/13/18.
Pours a bright orange gold with almost two and a half fingers of white head. The bubbles may fade but a quick swirl can revive them. The thin collar leaves a few small trails of lacing in its wake.
The Brett is first and foremost in the aroma followed by some citrus zest, floral notes and vague mint.
Bittersweet pineapple, earthy Brett, petals, orange peel, a little caramel and a hint of pine.
Medium light body with moderately light carbonation. Earthy, fruity, funky aftertaste.
I enjoyed Brett Free Verse enough on tap at the brewery that I grabbed a couple bottles to bring home. I this is even better bottle conditioned, with plenty of that Bretty pineapple character that mixes so well with an IPA. In fact I’m liking it enough that I’m not sure that I’ll be able to show much patience with my other bottle.

Look: Hazy pale gold with a thick white head. A very pretty beer.
Smell: Fresh and bright. Floral hops, yuzu, lemon drops, and a slight hay funk. Clean.
Taste: Slightly bitter floral hops. Notes of lemon candies, aloe, bitter greens, and light tea notes. The malt is thin and watery cracker notes. There is a lightly funky hay note on the finish.
Feel: This is where the beer really shines. Clean, dry, and refreshing. Medium bitterness. No alcohol. Dry finish. Soft carbonation.
Overall: A standard IPA brought up by a beautiful Brett body and finish. That nice dry finish not only refreshes the palate but also leaves the palate wanting another sip.
