A light and refreshing Lemon-Hibiscus Gose brewed with Sea Salt! Finished with Lemon Peels and brewed with Hibiscus Petals, this touch of the tropic provides herbal aromas and a splash of citrus flavor. Combined with Sea Salt and a hint of tartness, the only way you could be any closer to a tropical vacation would be by stepping straight out of the ocean.

This was another beer given to me late last year along with a bunch of others from the Old Dominion, as it it took me a while to get around to. Never had anything from the Virginia Beer Company before and this was a decent first impression by them, as it checked off all of the proverbial boxes for a brew of this style.

To my delight, this poured a deep hibiscus that had a bit of salmon in the hue, as the head was vigorous, thin, and short-lasting. Very little lacing was left behind as the carbonation was not overt, but present and everlasting throughout my session. Lots of the aforementioned hibiscus, lemon, acetate, and sweet tartness was on the subdued nose with the taste closely following suit. Loads of lemon juice and a bit of sea salt emerged on the palate, as they gave this beer the juiciness and balanced that it needed to be typecast as a typical Gose. Somewhat slick, plenty full in body, and a tad tart in the back, this was suitable for a muggy, late summer night such as this since it was so easy to quaff.

Much of that had to do with the low amount of perceived and actual alcoholic presence, as I barely noticed it during my session. Canned on 3/30 of last year, this held up well to my amazement although I wish I had gotten a fresher can. This wasn't quite enough to transport me to the tropics although it was fitting for the warmer months such as this one. Have it once to relax with if you can't get your hands on a higher-rated example of the style.
