16oz can, served in a Samuel Smith pint glass. Canned on 02/04/25. Described as an Imperial Maple Brown Ale on the label.
Appearance: Clear brown ale, with a bit of amber color highlight when led up to the light. Strongly foaming on the pour, yielding a very thick light tan persistent head with some strands of equally persistent lacing.
Smell: Definite maple aroma, with some underlying toasted malt, but not getting much else.
Taste: Solid maple taste up front, definitely sweet through and through, a hint of vanilla, and a lightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Light carbonation, a bit sticky on the teeth. Slick, and surprisingly, a little thin.
Overall / Drinkability: Along with the label on the can calling this an Imperial Maple Brown Ale, the side of the can also says "Ale with Maple Syrup", and I think that latter statement may be more correct. I feel like this was a beer that was not brewed with Maple Syrup, but added the Maple Syrup after the beer was brewed. It's very sweet and a bit hard to finish. Maybe with the right food I could handle it, but I'm finding I can barely finish a 16oz can because it's so sweet. A 12oz can maybe, but not a 16oz.
