Taster at CdA taproom. Dark brown pour, small beige bubbly head. Roasty aroma and taste, burnt toast, bitter,Coffee not very evident, average stout overall

pmaybe my least favorite of the beers i had in here, although that is not to say its bad, but its too sweet to be appealing to my palate, even with some bitter roasted barley and the coffee, really limits the drinkability, and the ferment isnt great even aside from the residual sugar, just some refinement necessary here. it almost seems like there is lactose in here, whether or not there is i dont know, but its creamy and sugar in a way that almost seems like it cant be grain derived. the positives are the low acidity of the coffee and its boldness, the hints of raisin, smoke, and dark chocolate in the malt layers, and the smooth texture this has. i dislike the ferment, its a little soapy, stressed or hot or both, and the sugar coating of my teeth and tongue drag this down. a light green pepper element is in the coffee too, but overall i like that part. i think they have some good ideas in here, even solid recipes, but the execution was a step below professional in most of what i had, not way off, but not quite expert yet either. this should get better with future batches, some effort to dry it out more would be step one.
