On-tap 11/24/2021 at the brewery’s taproom in Providence, RI, served in a snifter glass.

A: The beer is a deep black color, with a short light brown head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains very strong black coffee, roasted malts and some chocolate.

T: The taste likewise starts out with huge burst of black coffee followed by some mildly sweet flavors of chocolate and licorice along with a touch of smoke. There is a hearty roasted malt character and a faint touch of hops. The after-taste is roasty and slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and crisp, medium-to-heavy body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, slightly filling, good kick, good representation of style. This is a solid stout to drink for a while.

Pours one shade shy of black with a thin, mocha-colored head that quickly dissipates. Served a bit cold; however, big notes of roasted coffee come across. Taste consistent with nose with some cocoa and milk sugar. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a mild, even carbonation and a slight creaminess to the texture. Overall, quite drinkable and the coffee presence is really balanced; however, it comes off a little thin.
