Growler from Long Live Beerworks bought this afternoon
I was picking up some cans at LLB after work today and thought to myself that I haven’t had enough of their stouts. When I visit the taproom I usually have them and they’re quite good. Some can be over the top, but they’re not to the point of overbearing (save for Graham Hammer). Let’s see how well this emulates an Almond Joy
Pours almost completely pitch black with a finger of mocha colored head that fades to a thin cap and leaves nice lacing
Well, it definitely does give the impression of the candy, it’s pretty much spot on. I’m picking up on aromas of milk chocolate, sweet coconut, honey, almond, roasted coffee, and some caramel
It differentiates itself a bit in taste, and it is quite boozy, as to be expected for 13%. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting milk chocolate, booze soaked raisin, sweet coconut, and chewy caramel. The swallow brings notes of toasted almond, shaved coconut, milk chocolate, marshmallow, and a touch of rum. Good but very sweet at points
A full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a very thick beer. Finishes mostly sticky and a bit too sweet
This is pretty good, but not really in large doses. Nice to sip on after a long day

Pours one shade shy of black with a dense, half-inch, mocha-colored head. Great nose - chocolate and coconut dominate. Taste consistent with nose, with the addition of milk sugar. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a silky texture and a mild, even carbonation. Overall, delicious and immensely drinkable. Well-crafted with an obscenely well-hidden abv. Very much akin to drinking an almond joy.
