Canned 10/7/21. “Booberry” stamped on the bottom of the can
Well, you can’t really get more fresh than this. Canned, picked up, and reviewed today. Another entry in their Ghost fruited sour series, this time we have one with blueberries and vanilla beans. I’m a sucker for blueberry in beer, so I just had to go pick some up after work today. Let’s crack it open
Pours an opaque reddish purple with 2 fingers of dark pink head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
There’s honestly not too much going on in the nose here, the vanilla kinda coats it all. I’m picking up on aromas of vanilla bean, honey, jammy blueberry, lemon rind, and doughy malt
There’s thankfully more to it in taste, but it’s still quite subtle for an 8% fruited sour. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart lemon, jammy blueberry, bready malt, light pepper, and raspberry. The swallow brings notes of creamy vanilla, tart blueberry, honey, cinnamon, cereal grain, and more lemon bite to clean things up
A medium full body pairs with very gentle carbonation, resulting in a luscious beer. Finishes surprisingly dry with a nice sweet/tart balance
After drinking this, it is abundantly clear that the “Booberry” on the bottom of the can means this is their take on the cereal. It tastes almost exactly like it. Not the best fruited sour but fun and easy drinking for the abv
