On tap at Long Live
Oh man, I had this one out last week at drinks with my client and it was so good that I just had to come back for more and a review. The keg actually kicked when they started to pour it, so this is the first pour off a fresh keg, hell yeah. Let’s get into this oaked Märzen
Pours a cloudy orange gold with 2 fingers of off white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
It’s quite sweet in the nose, but there’s still a nice bite to it. I’m picking up on aromas of sweet caramel, dark bread, honey, herbal hops, brown sugar, light apple skin, and a touch of toasted oak
The oak comes through nore in taste which really adds to the bite. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting dark bread, sweet honey, toasted grain, oak, herbal hops, apple skin, and light caramel. The swallow brings notes of toasted oak, pumpernickel toast, floral hops, sweet honey, burnt caramel, and brown sugar
A light medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp yet silky beer. Finishes mostly dry with a firm bitterness
I really dig this one. The oak adds a subtle touch, but it works wonders IMO

Served in a tulip. Pours a light, caramel-colored hue with a slight haze to the clarity and a loose, quarter inch, bright white head that quickly dispersed into a soapy slick and cluster of bubbles along the shoulder. Nose is quite nice. Notes of malt, pie spices and oak. Flavor profile is fairly bland, despite the nose - not much in the way of malty sweetness. Oak is present, but not overly prominent. Mouthfeel is light in body with a lively carbonation and a semi-dry finish. Overall, a decent Marzen; however, missing some of the malty goodness that I’m accustomed to with the style.
