Served in a stem. Pours two shades shy of black with no head, just a tight band around the shoulders and an oily bullseye dollop. Nose expresses rich chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Despite not being barrel-aged, I feel like I get some notes of spirits. Chocolate in the flavor profile is much darker than suggested by the nose. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with an assertive carbonation. Overall, a well-balanced stout that’s not overly aggressive in terms of the pastry qualities.
