Medium brown somewhat clear body with a beige collar. Smell is awesome: raisin, fig, and plum skins all dipped in honey with sweet red wine and molasses backed bourbon barrel and barley. The taste though is kind of a mess: hot wine and bourbon cut through the thin profile of brown sugar covered fig and wispy barley with an aggressive earth tone finish. Feel is thin and hot, barley is overwhelmed by the booze and sugars

500ml wax-capped bottle served in a tulip. Pours the color and clarity of unpasteurized apple cider with a loose, bubbly, tan-colored head that quickly disperses towards the shoulders. Nose expresses figs and notes of honey and port wine. Taste follows nose - not as cloying as you would expect for a BA English Barleywine. Mouthfeel is medium in body with an easy, even carbonation. Overall, a solid example of the style.
