Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance – The beer is served a deep ruby-red color with a small head of off-white fizzy foam. The head fades rather fast leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is a nice blend of sour and sweet with a good showing of blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry, along with a sour raspberry and sour apple cider vinegar aroma. Along with these aromas comes notes of lemon and some grain and hay.
Taste – The taste follows the nose rather well, albeit with a drier flavor then may have been anticipated. The taste starts with a light berry sweetness, strongest of raspberry, but containing notes of strawberry, blueberry, and blackberry as well. There is a good showing of a sour raspberry and lemon-lime flavor mixed with a bit of sour green apple and plum. The mix of light sweetness and sour take the taste to its end, and with a touch of hay and grist, one is left with an easy natured sour and lightly sweetened berry taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is medium to light with a moderate carbonation level both of which are fitting for the style overall.
Overall – A pretty nice easy drinking sour.
