Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a dark brown color with a tan foamy head that held and fell off at a good pace. Light stringy lace. The aroma had some sweet to roasty malts, some dark fruits and pomme-like fruits. The flavor made a decent effort of blending the vanilla to the roast and then adding a touch of a little bit of dried wood. All seemed to blend nicely into the aftertaste and hinted in the finish. The feel was about medium bodied, maybe just a touch over which I didn’t mind. Mild carbonation and some maple smoothness helps keep any roasty harshness down. Overall, pretty good porter well worthy of having again despite almost being "stout-like" in body.

From a 22oz bottle, undated but purchased at the Keene Farmers Market 08/27/16. Served in a tulip.

Pours a heavily carbonated, deep violet-hued amber with virtually no head. Sort of looks like a black IPA. Virtually no retention.

Smells of light brown sugar and india ink

Tastes of raw sugar and tobacco, astringent, medicinal herbs, grass clippings, crayons, citron, and dried, crumbled autumn leaves. A little smoky, roasted acorn at the finish with a barely detectable but not entirely pleasant fermented fruit tackiness.

Feel is light-bodied and a little syrupy which is mostly masked by the aggressive carbonation.

I'm pretty sure that this is a different beer than previous batches of the same name - in fact, they've scratched out the description on the label and hand-written 'a light porter' in sharpie. So, I don't know what if any value this review will have relative to anything bottled in the future.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on May 22, 2016.

The pour is dark brown with a lasting tan head. Opaque.

On the nose comes an array of vanilla, sweet malts, vague dark fruit, moss, and little to no hop profile.

Medium body.

Sweet roasted malt taste but it is offset by an odd sour fruit finish.
