Bottle from East Derry.
Hazy murky golden darkened kind of color with a good sized frothy bubbly white head that falls slowly. Big toasty caramel maltiness on the nose with some resinous earthy hops. Not much in the way of fruity esters like I expected. The flavor is more toffee caramel bordering on butterscotch. Earthy hop flavor with a huge sharp bitterness that lingers for a long time after each sip. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a bitter sharp resinous slick mouthfeel. This smells like an amber ale, is sharply bitter, and I cant find a whole lot of fruit, hop or apricot in the nose or flavor. A NE IPA should be dripping with juicy fruity hop aromas and flavors with a soft but firm hop bitterness, this needs some recipe or process tweaks IMHO.
