Aged over cherries and chocolate, this special release Pumpelly pours with a redish caramel head. Notes of fresh cherries from start to finish with chocolate undertones along the way.

Poured from a 16oz can into pint glass in November 2023. PKG 12/12/22 was stamped on the bottom of the can, and I drank this about 1 month after purchasing at a beer shop.
Appearance: As with many porters, very dark black with a thick dark brown head. Head was about 2 fingers high, and lasted a minute. It leaves almost no lacing on the glass, and ended with a very thin brown head still on the beer. Head bubbles were very fine.
Smell: Aroma of chocolate, and some cherry. There is also the usual porter malts, and some other sweet aroma like black licorice, but overall the chocolate and cherry dominate the others.
Taste: Mix of chocolate, cherry, and sweetness from other flavors like caramel. There is some smokie roasted flavors and coffee flavors, and very little hop flavors. There is a medium alcohol presence which matches the 8.3%, but it is balanced nicely by the sweetness.
Mouth-feel: Medium, and with a smooth body. Not much bigger than a standard porter.
This is a good Imperial Porter, and it has a variety of flavors that adds a nice complexity to the beer. It is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. This chocolate sweetness nicely contrasts the other flavors. An interesting Porter and I wold buy this again for something different.

From a 16 oz. can dated 12/12/22. Sampled July 21, 2023.
The appearance is mahogany brown with reddish hues. The reddish hues surprised me. A modest beige head that fades.
The aroma is dark roasted malts, cherries, cocoa, Graham crackers, and earthy.
Medium mouthfeel.
The flavor tends to boost the cherry characters instead of the dark roast and chocolate. The finish is slightly fruity.
