definitely a little more simple beer than you would find in the classic belgian examples of the style, but well made and pretty solid for what it is. i like the clarity, this seems brighter and lighter than most, but has the same tall white fluffy head on it that you would expect for the style, and great shine in the glass. the nose is more malt than yeast, even though it appears so light (closer to red family than brown shades). raisin and caramel from the grain, a little brown sugar, dried apple, not too much sweetness. the yeast is subtle here, a little bubblegum thing happening, but its completely complementary to this beer. light fruit from it too, works really well with the grain. its lacking a little of the depth and complexity i usually look for in the style, this is sort of a streamlined version, but all the major features are present, and its well put together. high carbonation pops it off on the palate, and a little drier in the end than a lot of these, which helps with drinking more than one or two. better than expected!
