Clocking in at 10.4%, Instant Messenger is our newest collaboration with our Crossroads neighbors, Messenger Coffee.
This hefty, velvety imperial milk stout is brewed with over two gallons of freshly pulled ristretto espresso using Messenger's proprietary espresso bend. Meaning, "restricted," in Italian, ristretto shots pour a lesser volume, but with the same amount of espresso resulting in robust, deeply flavorful concentrated shot. Adding this espresso to our imperial stout creates a complex latte-inspired profile of dark-roasted cacao, espresso and added vanilla.

Pours black with two fingers of khaki head. Head retention and lacing are good. Aroma is medium-roasted coffee, with chocolaty, toasted malt goodness behind. Flavor profile is medium-roasted coffee, toast, and chocolate. Roasted and toasted malts are present throughout, but become more apparent at the finish. Coffee notes are still strong in the flavor profile, but less so than the aroma. Mouth feel is smooth, and velvety with a medium thickness. Overall, heavy coffee, with a smooth finish. It's not heavy, or bitter - just a pleasant blend of coffee, and malts.
