A classic German rauchbier inspired by our trip to Bamberg. Medium brown in color. A super clean beer with beautifully malty notes of smooth chocolate and caramel. Solidly smoky without being too much. In typical Suarez Family Brewery style, this beer is very quaffable and crisp, and begs for another glass. A staff favorite for sure.

16oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'CANNED ON / / 10.12.22 DRINK BY / / 2.22.23'.
Ruby brown colored body. Thin finger of beige head, which stays on as an interrupted cap. Leaves just a few spots of lacing.
Aroma's first impression is impressive smoke, but there is also roasted malts which express cocoa and caramel.
Taste is less smoked than the nose, but the smoke is solidly there. Campfire smoke and more sausage than bacon. Slightly sweet malts arrive midway, which express chocolate and caramel. Late is raisin and prune. Some earthy and floral hops also.
Aftertaste is a very mellowed version of the taste profile. Does not leave a bitter or charred impression.
Lager level mouth feel, not overly heavy. Leaves a slight numbness on the tongue, but like a gentle caress. Good carbonation.
Smoked to a balance that allows the base malt and hops to also exist in the taste profile. Compares favorably to what Minnesota's Hammerheart has done for smoked lagers.

Smoked to just the level that I appreciate, which I'd describe as moderate.

16 oz can poured into a tulip pint glass. Color is similar to a brown ale. Nice head and lacing. Aroma and smell are mild on the smoke although maybe my senses were skewed by the fact that I was standing next to a campfire. What can I say, I tend to save smoked beers for campfires. Toasted malt, milk chocolate, and light hops as well. Overall it's a nice beer with no perceived flaws.
