Created by a monster hop schedule; this West Coast American Style IPA has plenty of up front hop bitterness as wave after wave of citrus and piney flavours continually wash over your pallet. A smaller grain bill and shorter boil time give this liquid gem its lower ABV and IBU; making it complex, flavourful, and sessionable.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the Huron Church Rd. LCBO in nearby Windsor. Packaged December/24. My second beer from the Calabogie, Ontario brewery, and for 2025. With Sundae the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO; there's a date stamp on the base of the can, but it's illegible. Served barely chilled.
Pours a foggy golden-amber colour, featuring nearly three fingers of billowing, foamy white head that lingers for well over five minutes. A sudsy collar and a rocky, quarter-inch cap last for considerably longer, with a gorgeous fractal pattern of spidery lace painted onto the glass. Classic West Coast IPA aroma that leans heavily into pine sap and pine needles; there are also notes of grapefruit, orange, berries, caramelized malts and floral, earthy hops. Not exactly creative, but it's still spot-on.
Like a stroll down memory lane: this is the kind of IPA that made me fall in love with the style. The malts are grainy & bready, with a touch of caramelized sweetness, providing a robust backdrop for notes of grapefruit and orange zest. Quite piney, particularly towards the end of the sip, with pithy, floral hops and earthy, resiny bitterness dominating the finish; hints of citrus, resin and earthiness echo into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with middling carbonation that livens up this brew's smooth mouthfeel. Excellent drinkability - at 5.5%, a couple of cans of this in a row would not be out of the question.
Final Grade: 3.89, a B+. In a marketplace that has become crowded with hazy IPAs & session IPAs, Bogie immediately struck me as a relic from the past: after all, this may be my first time stumbling upon Calabogie's mainline IPA, but it's a brew that has been around for a decade. I do love a good WCIPA, and this one meets all of my prerequisites... other than being easy to find locally. I'd buy this again, given the option - it's not a spectacular Westie, but I'd still encourage other old school IPA fans to give it a shot and decide for themselves.

IBU 65. West Coast American IPA Bogie handcrafted in the Ottawa Valley.
Poured into glass with a 2 finger head leaving a lace as you drink it.
The color is golden taste is very good citrus flavor and very smooth pine.
The bitterness level seems very low but almost perfect.
Overall this beer is very enjoyable to drink any day special beer it's good
Would definitely buy it again

Pours a nice gold colour, lighter than expected, with a small white head. Bitter and malty on the smell. The taste is more malty than hoppy, with earthy notes. Smooth mouthfeel

L: Transparent dark gold yellow, minimal lacing and head
S: Subtle overall, doughy and yeasty at first then tropical fruit and citrus notes, then pineyness
T: Quite bold but also smooth. The resiny pine is most apparent but also comes with earthy citrus pithy hops and toasty caramel malts. Medium lingering bitterness.
F: Light bodied and light carbonation. A bit oily and dry on the finish.
O: Very good, a little different tasting than other west coast IPAs.
