I am not a fan of this style and didn't have a large pour -- it was part of a flight. It had a very strong flavor, but I could not place it. Supposedly, it is peppery, but I'm not sure. It was sour.

I really, really liked this. First deeply hazy (modern haze, not old school unfiltered farmhouse haze) saison I think I’ve had. Love the thick, soft, murky body and creamy head, but certainly not traditional in appearance. The aroma and taste profiles are more to category, but with an added (though not over the top) dose of American hops that provides a a wonderful depth and nuance. Very effervescent and silky feel with a familiar farmhouse prickle.
Again, this isn’t going to please hardcore category sticklers as it takes liberties with what a farmhouse saison can or should be. But it satisfied my saison itch beautifully, paired wonderfully with a meal, and was a delightful (and delicious) drinking experience overall. And that’s ultimately what I care most about.

Had at troll under the bridge in Louisville KY. After a day of bourbon drinking the wheat flavor was striking. Smell is strong and good.

32 ounce crowler, filled at Monnik on 5/3/17. Served in a Monnik chalice (looks like a tulip/snifter mix), the beer pours a clear dark gold color with a couple inch off-white fluffy head that stayed around for a while. There's a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like peppery spice, grainy malt, cloves, and some herbalness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also a bit of lemon peel and grassy flavors noticeable too. It's more earthy/bitter than sweet tasting. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I think it's a good overall saison, glad I picked this one up!
