On tap at Third Avenue Ale House, NYC.
Pours a clear yellow color. A moderate foamy head displays good retention. Once it dissipates, a layer of scattered film remains throughout.
The nose opens cleanly with notes of muted sweet grass and grain. Soon, aromas of corn and light fruit become more pronounced, while notes of hay provide rustic notes. Malt aromas also open up, evoking bread and a touch of biscuit.
Interesting flavor profile combines rustic Saison like notes along with clean Lager characteristics. Medium bodied with a semi crisp mouthfeel and relatively gentle carbonation. Notes of corn, sweet grass, bright floral and fruity notes, earthy and rustic earthy spices. The malt flavors are soft and bready, balanced by a spicy sweetness. The finish is clean, dry and with a touch of bitterness.
Hard to classify this brew. Not a true German/Czech Pilsner due to the Belgian yeast profile and corn adjuncts. It’s more like a Saison Lager, if such a style were to exist. Unique and pleasant.
