A Belgian style tripel ale with orange, lemon, and lime peel. Our new twist on a Belgian-style Tripel gets triple zested! Brewed with our house yeast, we swirl in orange, lemon, and lime peel at the end of the brewing process. Bottle-conditioned for maximum effervescence creates a dry, sparkling citrus-forward take on the traditional Tripel. Well-complimented by citrus zest and sitting nicely at a 9% ABV, Tripel with a twist makes for an easy drinking ale that is refreshingly smooth.

Says best to drink by September 2024 I can see why there are floates in the beer. Smells of orange zest some sugar bubblegum tripel notes maybe some lemon taste is better than I thought the fruit aspect is still bright and juicy balancing the dry and semi sweet yeast taking the edge off of the above Average ABV, Defiantly grab some if you still see it especially if it was refrigerated like I found mine,

The most unique tripel I have had to date...
...What makes it most unique was the look and smell. It had a cloudy/floaty aspect to it I found surprising, and the smell was citrused from oranges, lemons, and limes - truly delicious. Mouthfeel was light and crisp, and I truly enjoyed this off-style vairant to a style i truly like...

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a medium orange with a very fizzy, two finger white head that dissipated to a persistent thick cap with light lacing. Aroma of candi and farmhouse malt, lemon, mixed mystery citrus and coriander. Flavor is grainy malt, mixed citrus with citron being the clearest note, Belgian yeast and coriander. Spicy citrus finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess and sharp carbonation. Like the last fruited tripel from these guys, it's an interesting variation with a fairly solid tripel base underneath. The mixture of citrus was a bit muddled; not getting any particular lemon/lime or orange, but it's definitely citrusy. For me I liked the stone fruit character of the Triple Fruited one better, but this was good change of pace. I'd like to see a straight tripel from Ommegant, but only some of the more off-beat varieties seem to make it to our market. Enjoyable, but not memorable.

Poured from bottle to tulip, good 2+ finger head recedes to a 1/2 inch, good lacing. Dark golden in the glass, looks like a weak orange juice (hazy fans would dig the color). Big Belgian easters on the nose, slight twinge of orange. Taste follows the nose, the Belgian esters are almost amplified with the lemon and lime peal, you get the lemon/lime, but in more of a blended with belgian yeast mode, probably not doing a good job of describing, but it jumps out at you. The orange shines thru in the middle taking care of some of the sweetness that comes from these beers and lends the beer overall to a very mild somewhat dry finish. Residual citrus on the palate makes you want to go back for more. This may not be the best tripel I have had, but is is a very drinkable one that goes pretty good with spicy food.

Beer is very overly hopped. Tastes closer to an IPA than a Tripel. Very disappointed in Ommegang on this one. They were one of the last bastions of balanced beers.

I view this as a summer tripel; refreshing, more citrus and less spice... both added spice and in the yeast.
Tripels probably need to get season-specific to grow their market significantly. But Twist will not be a classic in my book.
I like how BO changes their lineup and still experiments with discretion in a limited range (that's because they are old.) Twist seems to be a close variation from the Triple Fruited Tripel released last year.
I just bought a 4-pack of Twist and will review the second copy.

Pours a deep gold with plenty of frothy white head. Clear but some sediment. 9.0 abv, 24 ibu. Bottle best by 9-28-24, yeasty funk aroma, yeasty funk taste then a blast of citrus, hard to distinguish the orange lemon and lime seperately over the yeast flavor, but definitely citrus. Bottle conditioned so turned cloudy with later pour. Still yeasty and citrus. Hides the alcohol. A nice variation of a Triple, I would like once a year.

Bottled on:
A - Dark medium orange gold pour with light creamy white lacing and vibrant carbonation. (Unfortunately with a ton of globular floaties rising and sinking in the carbonation, my fault on the pour.)
S - Yeasty, light Belgian candy sugar aroma with orange, lemon, and lime.
T - Light Belgian candy sugar, with delicate lemon / lime and orange while finishing on the sweeter side with residual yeasty citrus spiciness.
M - Big silky body with effervescent sprightly carbonation on the palate.
O - I like how Ommegang is shaking things up with their beers. I've always enjoyed this brewery anyways be it their regular line-up or these new variants. Not traditional but enjoyable.

Appearance - Golden amber body with white head, lots of sediment floating around on this one
Smell - candied orange, lemon peel, peach
Taste - Lemon, limes, candied orange, peach
Mouthfeel - medium bodied, medium plus carbonation, citrus upfront, slightest hint of booze on the back end, but it is not distracting or overwhelming
Overall - this is a good tripel, the flavours on the label are very accurate, good balance on the flavors. I might snag some more so I have this to drink during the warmer months. Worth a try.
Price Point - $5.49/ 12 oz bottle
