Part of our dreaming of fields project - This Kentucky common inspired ale, sometimes know as a dark cream ale was brewed with 75% Iowa malted barley from Miller Malting Co. out of Cascade, IA, and 20% bloody butcher corn from FloLo Farms Out of West Union, IA. Slightly malty and extremely drinkable, this beer is an ode to Iowa and its hard working farmers.

Appearance: Dark brown bodied beer with a huge head that stacks up well over 4 fingers tall. Lacing everywhere it touches the glass. This beer poured way dark that I expected it to be.
Smell: Malt forward. Dark crusty bread and toasted grains.
Taste: Fresh baked dark bread. Toasted Grains. Hint of lightly bitter chocolate note.
Mouthfeel: medium light bodied beer. moderate carbonation levels. For the most part this is soft bodied, but towards the end it starts to water down from the initial soft texture.
Overall: What a stunning beer! It's like a cross between an English Mild Ale, a dunkel, and a California Common aka "steam beer". The grain profile in this beer is the star; the can makes a suggestion that specialty grains where used to brew this beer and I would say that is accurate. It's really delicious beer flavored beer.

On tap at Pulpit Rock, served in a tulip glass. Slightly hazy chestnut brown, light tan head that settled to a thin ring. Nothing overpowering about this one. Aromas and flavors of light brown bread, a little caramel, and a nice hit of peppery spice on the finish. Good carbonation, light on the palate, quite drinkable. The only thing missing is a bratwurst to pair it with. Well done!
