I had this beer on-tap in a mason jar at the brewery.
Appearance: basically entirely black with a finger of frothy tan foam atop. I like it.
Smell: yeasty with a dash of funk and a little roast. I dig it.
Taste: your basic farmhouse funk with a little added astringency from the roasted malts.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: an interesting and very refreshing beer.

On tap at the brewery just off the freeway by the I-5 bridge over the Skagit. Very dark brown in the tall nonic with long-lasting off-white foam. Interesting yeasty aroma. Mouthfeel is sudsy but then scratchy, bitter and yeasty. Thin body.
This tastes like burnt rye toast. This is the grainiest Saison I've ever tasted. A touch of yesterday's coffee grounds. Just a hint of sweet malt. Something like wintergreen and that dark, charred grain. This is pretty crazy but well worth trying for something using the yeast but out of the usual Belgian style range.
