This robust and bold dark ale is infused with coffee and our guiding principles of the co-operative: Principle 6, “Support for other Co-Operatives” and Principle 7, “Concern for the Community”. The coffee beans in this brew are sourced from Comite Campesino del Altiplano, a cooperative of coffee farmers doing incredible work in the highlands of Guatemala.

473 mL can from the brewery; no discernible packaging date. Served slightly chilled.
Pours dark black-brown with crimson red highlights; it's graced with an inch of soapy, foamy, light beige-coloured head that lasts for three minutes or so. A frothy collar rests on the surface, with a small smattering of lace scattered about. Smells like a freshly-opened bag of (really good) coffee beans, with hints of cocoa, burnt grains, baker's chocolate and herbal hops. Yeah, the coffee sidelines everything else, but I'm not complaining.
Oh yeah, this is a quality coffee porter. I'm tasting fresh brewed coffee, with hints of cocoa powder and roasted grains; a little bitter later on, with dark chocolate-covered coffee beans and floral, slightly spicy hops. Coffee grounds last into the aftertaste. Medium-light in body, with relatively low carbonation that gently prickles the surface of the palate; feels smooth and a little soft. Great drinkability - I couldn't stop myself from taking quick sips, it's just that tasty.
Final Grade: 4.03, an A-. London Brewing's Perky Porter is right up my alley. Now, it's only fair to bring my bias to attention: I love coffee, so given the choice between a standard porter/stout or one infused with coffee, I am almost always going to prefer the latter. Their Tolpuddle Porter is good in its own right, but Perky is simply on another level - I wish I could find this beer at the LCBO, but instead I'll have to stock up the next time I'm in London... or maybe, I'll just place an online order. What an age we live in!
