tart, short of "sour" IMO. (This is the way I like 'em, btw). Hop aroma and flavor primarily citrus (majoring in grapefruit but with a minor in tangerine). Appropriately bitter for a saison. Finishes quite dry.
Very drinkable. Passes the "I want another one, stat" test. In fact I drank 3 at first session.

12 oz can. Pours hazy orange gold with a medium fizzy white head that quickly diminishes and leaves little lacing.
The aroma is sweet floral grapefruit juice with some tartness and a little butyric acid.
The flavor is sweet fruit juice with a ton of tart lactic sourness and a little earthy funk. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.
Overall, very sour, but a bit much.

my first beer from these guys, a very ambitious release from a brand new brewery. they will either take off or fall flat with beer like this, not much middle ground here that i can see. this was on tap at the breckenridge place on blake street, and its pretty good, although im not sure it comes as advertised. either way, i was stoked to try this one. super clear on the pour, doesnt look like a wild ale at all, more like a belgian pale, with a full inch of white head on it and a clear yellow base thats nice and fizzy. the nose is more hoppy than it is wild, but both aspects seem underdone to my senses. the hops have a fruity complexion, dry citrus and melon to me, maybe amarillo and citra, but its hard to nail it down. the grain is straight forward to me, pale two row type, maybe a pinch of wheat, but more sweetness than i like in the style, and it lingers kind of long. the yeast is the let down for me. as a mild saison i like it quite a lot, but as an expression of brettanomyces i think its rather poor. either they have isolated an extremely passive strain and single pitched it, or this beer is crazy young and underdeveloped. based on the residual sugar from the malt, i would guess the latter. its there, a slight funk, but its real clean, and there almost assuredly has to be other yeasts in here doing the majority of the fermenting. i dont mind the subtle nature of it, but i feel a little deceived. this really doesnt present itself to me as a brett beer as i know them. still, the quality is there and the drinkability is high. the hops taste great, and they obviously know what they are doing, which was what i was hoping for. need to try to make it up to the brewery soon to get a better feel for it, but this is good beer, if a little weak on the wild side. very curious to see where they go next. also, maybe a little ignorant or arrogant to name your first wild beer "flora". whichever one it is, its equally unflattering...
