a wheatwine with rosemary and vanilla of all things, and a very tasty beer despite its stylistic weirdness. i think its awesome how fast these guys are evolving, and while all the beers they make still arent amazing, the ones that are, really kill it. this is deep honey colored, pushing pale amber, clear, thick, and foamy white heady. it has a wonderful fresh wintery rosemary almost oily pine complexion to the aroma, not too intense, but quite apparent and unmistakable. sweet wheaty malt notes, honey and even confectioners sugar, this likely has a non-grain based spike. the vanilla is subtle in the aroma, an enhancement. the flavor is like the nose, although the rosemary comes a little later on and the sweet richness is enjoyed first. minus the belgian yeast, its almost like a tripel until about midway though when the herb really sinks in. its pungent but christmasy, and its softened a little by the vanilla and the lingering sweetness. decent carbonation for a strong beer like this, and the alcohol is pretty well covered up, but its really thick still, one is more than enough. clever and well executed beer. if you have not been up here yet, get on it!
